Rethinking a Trip to the Mall - How Shopping with AR Smart Glasses could Look

The online mall has changed shopping. Evidently, more people than ever refuse to leave their homes to shop. However, a large number of consumers prefer the retail experience. By no means are physical storefronts going away anytime soon, but they’re set to drastically change. Consequently, shopping with AR glasses is set to accelerate this change.

Numerous shopping Apps available for Vuzix AR Smart Glasses

Augmented reality is already available to tech-savvy consumers. Retailers including IKEA and Target offer AR Shopping Apps. Incidentally, the need to ask for assistance is slowly being phased out.

Granted, this technology is still in its infancy. However, digital technology has a tendency to advance at a staggering pace. Consider how far voice tech has come. Amazon Alexa and Google Home are already staples in urban homes.

Consequently, shopping with AR smart glasses isn’t far away and could one day be the norm. With the Vuzix Blade and voice control capabilities, shoppers could use voice to carry out tasks via shopping apps.

Power to the Consumer

Upon entering the store, lenses would broadcast product info. Simply by looking at a clothing rack, consumers would know everything about a specific item.

First, buyers would immediately learn how a product was made. This can include country, manufacturer, designer name, and much more. Most importantly, it can include fair-trade and ethical info. Secondly, the price would hover above the item. Still can’t decide if that shirt’s right for you? Reviews and product descriptions would be easily accessible.

Ultimately, users would be able to filter by preference. Looking for a shirt under $30? Simply voice your preference to the glasses’ AI assistant, and items would highlight in your field of vision.

Vuzix Smart Glasses Rethink Everyday Life

This type of tech is already used in the Vuzix Blade’s Yelp app. Too many lunch options in your area? Open the app and a restaurant’s name and star rating hover above the building.

Evidently, this technology can advance quickly. Moreover, its uses are only restricted by our imagination.

Shopping with AR smart glasses can disrupt an industry that’s grown used to disruption. This technology will one day provide consumers with easier access to product info than ever before.
